Needham Bank Provides Initial Funding for The Dover Neighbors’ Fund

 

DOVER, MA---On April 6th, Needham Bank announced that it provided the initial funding of $8,500 to help establish the Dover Neighbors’ Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to benefit Dover residents who temporarily fall on hard times and may need a helping hand. Needham Bank’s contribution helped to get this initiative off the ground, but after announcing a month ago, The Dover Neighbors’ Fund has already received over a dozen donations from Dover residents.

Eric Morse, Needham Bank Executive Vice President and Dover resident stated in the letter announcing the fund, “Even in lovely Dover we are not immune to unplanned illness, job loss, divorce, and other unanticipated disruptive matters which can understandably have a dramatic impact on one’s quality of life.” He went on to mention that “we all know someone who at some point needs the kindness of others and that’s precisely why the DNF has been established.”

The idea for the fund came from Morse, who noticed that even though Dover’s churches and residents do so much for their neighbors, many other towns have a similar type of support, like the Westwood Community Chest, Wellesley Friendly Aid, Sherborn Benevolent Society, Natick Service Council, the Millis Fund, Ashland Emergency Fun, the Medfield Foundation, and the Needham Service Council. He sought legal assistance from Dover attorneys, Jonathan Fryer and Vincent O’Brien to manage the process of becoming an official 501(c)(3) and together they established a Board of Trustees of Morse, Fryer, O’Brien, and Dover realtor, Mary Crane.

“Needham Bank is an incredible partner in the community and has gone above and beyond to help establish this fund for our neighbors in Dover,” remarked Vincent O’Brien of Fryer & O’Brien. “Even in the nicest of towns, there are still hardships that need to be overcome and we are proud to provide a solution to support those in need.”

“I grew up in Dover so I’m very proud to be a part of The Dover Neighbors’ Fund initiative,” commented Mary Crane. “I was aware that neighboring towns had resources for those in need and am so pleased that now Dover does too!”
